FIRETREX ELECTRICAL ENCLOSURE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM

Electrical Panels are the backbone of the Electrical Operations in any organization and can be found in virtually every industrial or commercial space. These panels are custom manufactured as per customer’s requirement and are generally not available off the shelf. Unfortunately, fires in most of the electrical panels are detected too late for the critical & expensive equipment to be saved from catastrophic damage. Since the fire starts inside of the panel, the contemporary methods of fire detection like the smoke & flame detectors are unable to detect the fire till the time the panel is sufficiently gutted for the smoke/flame to be visible outside. However, by that time, it is too late to save the critical electrical components inside that panel.

An efficient & effective fire detection and suppression system is required to detect the fire in the quickest possible time and extinguish the same thereby containing and isolating the fire to the enclosure itself thereby ensuringreduction of downtime and supporting process and business continuity.

FIRETREX Electrical Panel Fire Detection & Suppression System is an innovative firefighting solution, which uses a flexible polymer based Heat Detection Tube to detect the fire within the compartment as well as suppress the same combining ground-breaking technology with functional simplicity to keep your mission critical equipment safe.

FIRETREX takes the fire detection and suppression to a whole new dimension i.e. inside of the electrical panel. FIRETREX systems usesa polymer basedheat/fire detection tubing which is installed inside the enclosure covering all the possible hazard areas. The tubing is then pressurized with nitrogen gas and connected to the cylinder holding the Clean Agent.Any incident of high temperature or fire inside any compartment/sub-compartment of the panel will cause the pressurised tube to burst at the point of highest temperaturethereby releasing the Extinguishing Agent directly in the affected volume and suppressing the fire.

FIRETREX Electrical Panel Fire Detection & Suppression system limits the collateral damage often caused by traditional fire suppression by restricting the fire to the single enclosure.

Direct Low-Pressure Systems (DLP)

In the DLP systems, any incident of fire inside the panel causes the tubing to rupture in the highest temperature zone. The rupture in the pressurized tubing effectively forms a “Discharge Nozzle”. The pressure imbalance in the tubing causes the Extinguishing Agent contained in the cylinder, to be pushed through the tubing and released in the compartment through the “Rupture Hole”. The Heat Detection Tubing is thus utilized both in detection as well as suppression. The DLP system is most effective for electrical panels having multiple compartments with single largest volume

INDIRECT RELEASE SYSTEMS (ILP)

Indirect Release System is ideal for situations where fire could break out in multiple locations at the same time. Herein, the Firetrex tubing is used only for detection. When a fire causes the tubing to burst the loss in pressure causes the ILP cylinder valve to open forcing the extinguishing Agent to be discharged through traditional distribution network and fixed nozzles.

ILP system is more suitable for larger volumes which require multiple nozzles for quick discharge of Agent.

Monitoring & Control System

The FIRETREX DLP system comes fitted with a Low PressureSwitch (LPS), which can be integrated directly with the existingFire Alarm System or a local Audio-Visual Alarm (suppliedseparately). The LP switch provides a “Potential Free” contact incase of the system activation, which could be used by the Fire Alarm System for generating indication and/or Audio-Visualwarning.

The LPS can also be connected through an MCU (separatelysupplied) for remote monitoring, there are multiple optionsavailable, which can be customized as per requirements. : -

1. Audio-Visual Alarm : The FIRETREX DLP system can besupplied with an AV Alarm (220v AC) to provide a local audiovisual warning in case of system activation.

2 Monitoring & Control Unit : The FIRETREX DLP system canbe supplied with an MCU & an AV Alarm to provide anAudio-Visual warning locally as well as provide 02 potential freecontacts, which may be used for integration into the existing FireAlarm System and/or for initiating a customized response (shutting down panel/ventilation etc).

  • CLASSIFICATION : Equally effective on class A, B, C fires.
  • SELF-ACTUATED :Pneumatically activated system does not require any power supply or any human intervention to operate.
  • 24X7X365 PROTECTION: Automatic detection and actuation ensures fire protection is always ‘ON’. Supplied with a local AV Alarm and/or monitoring & control unit, which can be configured to send an alert to BMS/FACP.
  • FLEXIBLE DESIGN : Flexible Heat/Fire Detection Tube can be conveniently routed inside electrical panels covering the risk areas, which are otherwise difficult to access and protect.
  • CLEAN AGENT : Clean Agent is electrically non-conductive and is safe for electrically charged equipment. Itdoesn’t leave any particulates or corrosive residue. After a discharge, the extinguishing agent can be removed by simple ventilation.
  • ROBUST & RELIABLE : Can withstand even harsh conditions where other types of detection systems might be rendered inadequate .
